In India approximately 3 lakhs babies die per year due to asphyxia. Asphyxiated neonates
require prompt, skilled resuscitation to survive the neonatal period. Neonatal resuscitation
is simple, inexpensive, available and cost‐effective but often not initiated or the methods
used are inadequate or wrong.


To overcome this situation Indian academy of pediatrics has launched a novel project to
train all the health workers involved in care of newborn in the skills of basic newborn care
and resuscitation.

This is a two day course designed to impart basic neonatal resuscitation skills in the participants.
the length of course is around 18 hours. On successfully completing the course you
will be provided with certificate which would remain valid for two years. Since the course is
skill oriented it would greatly help you in dealing with cases of birth asphyxia and basic
newborn care.


All the pediatrician, gynecologists, other doctors involved in maternity care and paramedical
staff working in maternity hospital can participate in the course. You are advised to propose
the names of paramedical staff from your facility willing to attend the course.


The registration for the course is free, as there are only limited seats available, so if you are
willing to attend the course please register yourself to Dr............................ Course coordinator
